Hon. Patrick N. Lawler, (Ret.) is a skilled mediator and arbitrator with extensive experience in the resolution of civil disputes. Judge Lawler is known for his innovative settlements in complex matters including multi-party, commercial, medical malpractice, product liability, workers’ compensation, and personal injury. In his career as an attorney, he had extensive experience practicing law as both defense and plaintiff council.

Representative Cases

  • Ruppert v. Ryan Medical Malpractice:  Involved a six week trial with an excess of 25 expert witnesses
  • Townsend v. Sunshine Painters et. al.:  Construction defect, employer/employee issues as well as workers’ compensation and coverage issues
  • Johnson v. St. Therese Medical Center et. al.:  Medical malpractice involving infant death and issues related to independent contracting of emergency room physicians
  • Roger Lunsford v. Caterpillar:  Product liability case involving design defect, employee misconduct, sub-contractor liability and third party liability for design defect

Over the years, I have worked with many mediators and settled many class actions.   A case I brought to ADR Systems proved to be the most difficult.  Through great efforts, Judge McGann guided us to a deal.  I do not believe any other mediator I’ve worked with could have settled this case.  Judge McGann is a joy to work with, and at the top of my list.
