Hon. James P. Etchingham, (Ret.) is an experienced mediator and arbitrator with more than 34 years as a trial attorney and judge. He has extensive expertise in settling and resolving complex civil matters, including personal injury, auto liability, civil rights, domestic relations, government and real estate cases. His tenacity and unique people skills allow him to bring all parties to the table and resolve disputes efficiently. He is currently principal at Etchingham Law.

  • 18-year judicial career focused on personal injury, landlord-tenant, felony and domestic violence and case resolution in the Circuit Court of Cook County;  Associate Judge, Third Municipal District, 2000-2012; Associate Judge, Municipal District, 1994-2000; First Municipal District personal injury jury call, 1995-1996
  • 17-year legal career as an attorney trying and settling personal injury, tort, chancery, criminal, complex litigation, government and annexation matters
  • Completed 40-hour mediation course, Circuit Court of Cook County, 2009
