Judge Haddad Receives Award at NIU Minority Alumni Reception

Hon. William J. Haddad, (Ret.) was honored at the Northern Illinois University (NIU) College of Law’s 15th Annual Minority Alumni Reception on February 21st.

He was presented with the Excellence in Career Achievements Award for his leadership skills and distinguished record as the first Arab-American judge in the Circuit Court of Cook County. Judge Haddad received the award from fellow alumnus Vincent F. Cornelius, immediate past president of the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) and partner at Cornelius Law.

NIU Law also recognized Dartesia Pitts at the reception with the Excellence in Career Achievements Award for her professional accomplishments and devotion to the public good. She is currently serving as the president of the Cook County Bar Association, the nation’s oldest association of African-American lawyers and judges in the country.

The Excellence in Career Achievements Award is given out each year to NIU minority alumni as a recognition of their success in the legal community.

Judge Haddad is a highly regarded senior mediator and arbitrator with ADR Systems. He is a frequent presenter on legal topics and takes an active role in the community.
