Hon. F. Keith Brown, (Ret.), senior mediator and arbitrator at ADR Systems, will be presenting on collaborative defenses among defendants at the upcoming National Retail and Restaurant Defense Association (NRRDA) annual conference.

The panel presentation, titled “He Said, She Said…How About We Said? Exploring Options for Collaborative Defense Among Defendants,” will be from 12:30pm – 1:30pm on Thursday, March 7th.

“My goal is to show the value of pre-mediation meetings between defendants and the mediator,” Judge Brown said. “In certain cases, it’s advantageous to have the defense iron out issues such as available resources and distribution of responsibility beforehand, and a mediator can help with that.”

Judge Brown will present alongside LaToya Lee, with Raising Cane’s Restaurants, LLC, and Caryn Seibert, with Gallagher Bassett. The panel will discuss the proper way to utilize collaborative defenses, when appropriate, as an effective tool to reduce claims cost, legal expenses, settlements and verdicts.

The NRRDA conference, “Catch the Wave: A Pipeline to Knowledge,” will be from Wednesday, March 6th to Friday, March 8th in West Palm Beach, Fla.

As a former chief judge of Kane County, Judge Brown has extensive experience in settling personal injury, workers’ compensation and commercial matters.
