Hon. Kay M. Hanlon, (Ret.), senior mediator and arbitrator at ADR Systems, recently settled a $4.725 million personal injury case stemming from a workplace accident, where a 70-year-old man sustained a work injury which resulted in an arm amputation and eventual wrongful death due to workplace machinery.

The case was a complex, multi-party dispute involving the family of the deceased worker, as well as the company and their insurance carrier. The man is survived by his wife and three adult children.

“In every case involving a death, emotions run high and must be acknowledged and worked through in order to reach a settlement,” said Judge Hanlon. “I’m very comfortable connecting and listening to all the participants, which benefits all sides in reaching a settlement.”

Judge Hanlon has settled many high-value, highly-emotional cases, including a $5 million personal injury case and a $3 million medical malpractice case.

Judge Hanlon has expertise in resolving personal injury actions such as medical malpractice, mass torts and product liability. Counsel who appeared before Judge Hanlon find her to be perpetually prepared, ready to listen attentively.
