Hon. Janet Adams Brosnahan, (Ret.), senior mediator and arbitrator at ADR Systems, recently published an article in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin. Her article, Finding Inspiration When Rule of Law Appears to Be Under Attack, reflects on personal experiences and professional insights that shaped her perspective on the legal profession.

“While the public often decides what principles it stands for — what to accept, what will not be tolerated and what must be punished — lawyers present the facts, frame the issues and make the arguments,” wrote Judge Brosnahan. “Lawyers perform an invaluable service, regardless of which side they represent or whether we agree with them.”

Through personal reflection, she recounts how the memoir of a trial attorney served as a reminder of the impact attorneys can have through dedication and integrity.

Our mediation using videoconferencing was convenient and effective – we settled! Judge Casciato gained the party's trust and confidence while deftly guiding us through the negotiation process via a videoconference.  With the use of virtual breakout rooms, Judge Casciato was able to spend private time with everyone.  This remote mediation worked well for us and I would not hesitate to use it again.
