ADR Systems congratulates Hon. William J. Haddad, (Ret.) for recently settling a difficult, high-profile case that was spotlighted in the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.

The case involved a plaintiff who was sexually abused by a man she met through a popular online dating service.  The victim claimed that the dating service was negligent in their failure to remove the defendant’s profile after receiving at least one previous complaint that he had sexually assaulted another user.

Despite a looming trial date and previous attempts at settlement, parties selected Judge Haddad to mediate the case.  Although the mediation did not result in settlement during the session, Judge Haddad continued to work with parties until they finally reached an agreement.  Daniel S. Kirschner, a partner at Corboy & Demetrio P.C. who represented the plaintiff, stated that, “Judge Haddad was phenomenal in bringing the parties together for a settlement which does not add the additional insult of gagging the victim.”

I want to express our firm’s appreciation to ADR Systems for providing us with an outstanding CLE program.  I received numerous positive comments from our partners; everyone thought that the Hon. F. Keith Brown and Stuart A. Nudelman provided us with useful and interesting insights.  I think that our Chicago partners (and anyone else who might do a mediation in Chicago) would be delighted with any of them as a mediator or arbitrator.
