Hon. William J. Haddad, (Ret.), senior mediator and arbitrator at ADR Systems, received the 2019 Outstanding Leadership Award at the Arab-American Business & Professional Association’s (ABPA) Annual Awards Dinner held on November 13th.

According to Talat Othman, president and founder of ABPA, “The award was established by the ABPA to honor those who excel in their profession, provide a public service or promote respect, tolerance and acceptance of others. It is bestowed on individuals who provide leadership in their community, city or business that benefits the public at large.”

Honorary Chairman United States Senator Richard J. Durbin and the Board of Directors recognized Judge Haddad at the Annual Dinner for his 20 years of service to the ABPA and the Chicagoland business community.

“Judge Haddad has exhibited outstanding leadership in many civic organizations, including the ABPA, where he currently serves as vice president. In addition, for decades, he has sought justice for those who are targeted because of their social status, religion or ethnicity,” said Othman.

A few notable past recipients of the Outstanding Leadership Award include the President of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Dr. Marshall Bouton, Mayor Richard M. Daley and Governor Jim Edgar.

Judge Haddad has spent decades practicing law. He led a civil litigation firm for 18 years and served as a company president before spending 10 years as a Law Division judge in the Cook County Circuit Court.  His broad background allows Judge Haddad to resolve a wide array of commercial and personal injury disputes. Judge Haddad is very active in the Chicago legal and business community and has received numerous awards for his service.

Our mediation using videoconferencing was convenient and effective – we settled! Judge Casciato gained the party's trust and confidence while deftly guiding us through the negotiation process via a videoconference.  With the use of virtual breakout rooms, Judge Casciato was able to spend private time with everyone.  This remote mediation worked well for us and I would not hesitate to use it again.
