Hon. Kay M. Hanlon, (Ret.) will present a seminar at an Illinois State Bar Association’s (ISBA) Tort Law Section Council program on April 11th.

The presentation, titled “Perspective from the Bench,” will examine how to effectively take and defend depositions, certified questions and how judges rule upon them, and how to avoid objections.

“When attorneys take depositions, they need to plan for their possible use at trial,” Judge Hanlon said. “They also need to understand the full range of possible uses at trial. I hope this seminar helps lawyers better plan and execute depositions to enhance their value at trial.”

The presentation is part of the ISBA’s “The Hot Seat: Taking and Defending Depositions” program, which will be from 5:10pm – 7:00pm at the ISBA’s Chicago office at 20 South Clark Street. It is approved for 1.75 hours of Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit by the MCLE Board. Judge Hanlon’s presentation will be from 6:05pm – 6:35pm.
