Judge McGrath Brings Two Decades of Judicial Experience to ADR Systems

ADR Systems is pleased to announce that Hon. Brigid M. McGrath, (Ret.) has joined our panel of senior mediators and arbitrators. Judge McGrath spent more than 20 years as a Cook County Circuit Court Judge, with the majority of her time in Law Jury and on a Commercial Calendar.
“When I made the decision to retire from the bench, I knew I wasn’t ready to leave the law industry completely,” said Judge McGrath. “ADR Systems was strongly recommended to me by my former judicial colleagues, and the company was highly regarded by lawyers who had settled cases pending before me through ADR Systems.”
On the bench, she handled complex commercial cases, including legal, architectural and accountants’ negligence, construction defect, employment, insurance coverage, partnership and intellectual property cases. Judge McGrath is also experienced in personal injury cases such as medical malpractice, toxic tort and product liability.
“Judge McGrath’s extensive 34-year legal career, managing a variety of commercial and personal injury case types, makes her an excellent resource in alternative dispute resolution,” said Marc Becker, president of ADR Systems. “We are excited to welcome her as a senior mediator and arbitrator to ADR Systems.”
She is well regarded both by her judicial peers and by fellow attorneys. In January 2019, she was presented with the Judge of the Year award by the Construction Defect & Dispute Conference (CDDC).
“I was surprised and honored to receive the award from the CDDC,” she said. “Many of the lawyers in that organization had appeared before me while I was on the bench, so it was truly wonderful to receive this recognition.”
Judge McGrath has demonstrated the ability to diffuse conflict and reach the root causes of disputes. Counsel know she will prepare thoroughly and stay the course, working diligently toward resolution.
“I approach each dispute with an open mind, knowing that each case is unique,” she said. “My breadth of experience with a wide variety of cases will help me guide the parties to a successful resolution.”
